Four anthropomorphic figures: An allegory of the four seasons
Old Master Paintings
An estimated $40- to $60,000 for a quartet of vegan paintings by a 17th century student of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. That’s not, as they say, “walkin’ around” money. (Note the fellow who appears to be cannibalizing himself in the upper left image—bang for your buck.) Had I the scratch, though, these might be staring down nervous guests in my foyer right now.
For a slightly more affordable vegetable experience, consider Annie Novak’s French garden cooking class on May 17 at the NYBG. You may not go home with anything to hang on your wall, but delivering the perfect homemade ratatouille to your dinner table will pull as much critical acclaim. —MN
