“Did I leave the gas on?”
I am a fan of snowdrops (the species in the genus Galanthus). I mean, after a long winter, who wouldn’t be? I eagerly await their reappearance at the Garden each late winter, and have planted them in my yard over the past few falls, too. Yet somehow I had never learned that one of the best ways to propagate these cheery little harbingers of spring is to dig them up, divide them, and replant them each spring just after they have finished blooming. You learn something new every day. ~AR
Snowdrop bulb bought for a record £350
The bulb, an unusual Galanthus plicatus EA Bowles snowdrop, was bred from a plant discovered in Myddelton House Gardens in Enfield, Middlesex in 2002 …
The unbeaten price comes at a time when other estates around the country are increasing their security to prevent their snowdrops being stolen.
