Our weekday high school Explainer Mary McGlade made this art object as a thank you gift for us! She said she was inspired by Patrick Blanc’s vertical gardens (the inspiration for this spring’s Orchid Show). Mary is graduating from the Summit School and is on her way to study nursing at Drexel University this fall.

Eileen is a student at Mott Haven Village Preparatory School, a participant in the Summer Forward program, and a teen Explainer at the Garden. She has been chronicling her experiences working at the Garden.

Learning at the Botanical Garden does not end.

So true!

Here’s a shot of a group of teen Explainers installing the new exhibit in the Discovery Center hallway. This summer’s program and exhibit is all about pollinators and flowers. Children and families can visit the Adventure Garden and explore the beautiful flowers while making predictions and searching the garden for different pollinators like butterflies. Field notebook making and pollinator puppet coloring are some of the featured hands-on activities.
