“Leave only footprints” may be a touch on the trite side, but it’s the mantra of any good and conscientious nature explorer. And in the case of Evie, a Yosemite Junior Ranger, that axiom’s come in handy. After taking a couple of sticks from the national park in question (presumably as souvenirs, if not capital for a greater fort-building effort), the well-meaning environmentalist inside got the better of her, resulting in this painfully cute letter. And if everyone were a little more like Evie from the outset, our protected environments might be a little better for wear. —MN
