Did you know that you can take cuttings from this year’s geraniums and root them in water over the winter so that you have a never-ending supply of geraniums for your porch? If it’s not too late where you are (meaning that your plants haven’t been felled by a killing frost yet), use a very clean knife to cut a 3-4 inch portion of a growing tip off your healthy plant (do not attempt this with any sickly looking plants), just below a leaf. Remove a few of the bottom leaves, leaving 3-5 leaves and then pop each piece into a little jar with some water. Change the water weekly, and place them in a sunny window. Could that be any easier? Nope. And added bonus: They’ll flower occasionally all winter long. How cheery is that? ~AR
