So Papermag hit us up on Twitter (thanks guys!) highlighting the cool new digital project partnership between the Garden and the Bronx Zoo! This project is a collection of digitized images of postcards hailing from the time when the Bronx Zoo and The New York Botanical Garden were collectively “Bronx Park.” The galleries are the combined effort of our LuEsther T. Mertz Library archives and the Wildlife Conservation Society, and all postcards come from between 1903 and 1980.

The most interesting thing, to me at least, is seeing the uncanny resemblance between the early-to-mid-century visitors and almost any Norman Rockwell painting. —MN

It’s cool that all of their 10 favorite images are of the Zoo’s animals, I remedied that by choosing my own favorite to illustrate this post. Plus, I know it’s hard to compete with baby animals, especially wee llamas named Toodles! ~AR
